Job description
A psycho-geriatric nurse specialize in working with geriatric patients. The psycho-geriatric provides support and care to elderly patients suffering from mental illnesses such as dementia, depression, or anxiety.
The responsibilities of a psycho-geriatric nurse include:
• Assessment of a patient's mental state: A psycho-geriatric nurse evaluates the patient to determine the presence or severity of a mental disorder. This includes interviews with the patient and his observation to determine symptoms and needs. .
• Planning and providing adequate care: Based on the assessment, a psycho-geriatric nurse develops an individualized care plan that includes therapy, medication, therapeutic activity, or other interventions that can help improve a patient's mental health.
• Patient and family support: psycho-geriatric nurse provides emotional support to patients and their families. It includes educating families about disorders, counselling, and helping them cope with challenges and changes in patient behaviour.
• Cooperation with other healthcare professionals: The psycho-geriatric nurse collaborates with other healthcare professionals such as psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers. This collaboration is important for a holistic approach to patients' health and providing the best possible care.
The course will be organized through three modules within the courses:
• General education classes
• Professional-theoretical classes and practical classes
• Optional classes
